Careem is a Dubai-based technology company operating as a 'super app' across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Founded in 2012, it began as a ride-hailing platform and has expanded to offer services such as food and grocery delivery, bike rentals, payments, and other daily needs through a unified app. Careem serves over 50 million customers in more than 70 cities across 10+ countries, employing thousands of staff and partnering with over a million 'Captains' (drivers and couriers). Uber acquired Careem in 2020, and in 2023, UAE telecoms company e& acquired a 50% stake in the Careem Super App, with Uber retaining the ride-hailing business.
